Serdar Tuncer was born on August 16, 1978, in Ankara. He started his education at Ankara Central Imam Hatip High School. During high school, he became acquainted with media; while still a senior student, he began radio broadcasting with a program called "Beş Çayı" at Bayrak Radio in Ankara.

After high school, he enrolled in three different universities; he could not complete two of them and never attended one. In 1996, at the age of 18, he prepared and hosted his first television program, Üç Nokta, on Kanal A. During this period, he also started his writing career. He got married in 1998 and has two daughters and one son.

Media Career

Serdar Tuncer’s media career began with radio in the 1990s and quickly transitioned to television. He became known for cultural and artistic programs such as Gecede 1 Gün and Yıldızdan Mahyalar on Kanal A. Especially, Gecede 1 Gün was awarded “Best TV Culture and Art Program” by the Ministry of Culture in 2005.

In 2007, he reached a wide audience with the Sahur program Türkiye’de ve Avrupa’da Ramazan aired on Kanal 1. Between 2008 and 2011, he hosted the live broadcast İftar Sevinci from Topkapı Palace during Ramadan on TRT 1. At the same time, he reached listeners with the radio programs Harman Yeri on Radyo Onbeş and Yitik Hazine on Semerkand Radio.

He co-hosted the program Yeni Şeyler Söylemek Lazım with Uğur Işılak on TRT Haber. In 2012, he appeared on Kalbe Düşünce on Semerkand TV, in 2013 on Sahurdan Kalplere on Kanal D, and between 2013–2015 on Başka Şeyler on CNNTürk.

He left CNNTürk on April 3, 2015. From October 8 of the same year, he started writing a column for the newspaper Yeni Şafak. In 2020, he launched his YouTube channel MyMecra, stepping into digital broadcasting.

Literary Career

Serdar Tuncer met poetry at a young age. His first poetry book, Sen İstanbul Kokardın, was published in 1997. His literary approach blends traditional Turkish poetry with Sufi poetry. His language is simple yet emotionally intense, filled with mystical imagery. His poetry shows the influence of figures like Mevlânâ, Yunus Emre, and Necip Fazıl.

Poetry Albums and Voice Works

In 2007, Tuncer published his first poetry album, Yolumuz Aşk Yoludur, in which he performed works by poets such as Mevlânâ Celaleddin Rûmî, Yunus Emre, and Necip Fazıl Kısakürek. This work was followed by Sen İstanbul Kokardın in 2009, Bir Hilal Uğruna in 2011, and Şiirin Sultanları in 2013, which features poems of Ottoman sultans.

Serdar Tuncer meets listeners in Turkey and worldwide through poetry recitals, conferences, and stage programs.

In 2019, a poetry and folk music event titled Poetry, Folk Song, Turkey that he was to perform with Uğur Işılak in London, England, was canceled due to pressure from some groups, which caused significant public reaction.
