Soft Analog (Music Group)

Soft Analog is an electronic pop band founded in Ankara in 2019. The group’s musical identity is built on synthesizing sounds from electronic music genres such as disco synth pop indie dance and synthwave with Turkish local melodies and instruments.

Formation and Musical Journey

The foundations of Soft Analog were laid after its members met during their university years. Although neither member received formal education in music-related academic programs they both maintained a strong connection to music and eventually began collaborative work following the restart of their individual productions. This process quickly evolved into a unified musical project under the name Soft Analog. The band’s musical journey began in Ankara and has since expanded through live performances.

Musical Style and Influences

Soft Analog’s music is centered on electronic pop but incorporates elements from disco synth pop indie dance and synthwave. The band integrates electronic foundations with Turkish melodic structures to unite local and universal elements. Their inspirations include figures from different eras and genres such as Quincy Jones Röyksopp Daft Punk Radiohead and Barış Manço.^【1】

Lyrical World and Thematic Structure

According to the band members the lyrics of Soft Analog carry a more melancholic and critical tone despite the dynamic and energetic nature of the music. Personal life experiences and social observations are expressed through a pessimistic and questioning narrative. In contrast the movement and vitality of the musical arrangements serve as a balancing force that can be interpreted as resistance or at times as a form of protest.^【2】

Live Performances and Events

Beginning in late 2020 the band started participating in the “Yolculuk” concert series sharing the stage with numerous local and international artists. Soft Analog has actively emphasized live performances in recent years incorporating visual and theatrical elements alongside the music during their shows.

Soft Analog’s musical output has been shaped around singles and album projects. With their debut album titled “DANS İLLÜZYON” the band introduced a new concept aiming to present music and stage performance as a cohesive narrative.
