Takfir

Origin

Tekfir is derived from the same root as the Arabic word kufr (كفر), which means "rejection of religion" or "denial". It originates from the Arabic root k-f-r (كفر). The term takfīr (تكفير), meaning "to declare someone an unbeliever", "to impose penance", or "to label as unbelief", is derived from this root. This word is the second verbal noun (masdar) in the tafˁīl form of the Arabic kufr, which means "blasphemy".
