With the acceleration of digital transformation in the 21st century, information technologies have begun to fundamentally alter social and economic structures. Initially introduced to the public through cryptocurrency systems, blockchain has gradually expanded its applications to numerous fields including healthcare, public administration, supply chains, and digital identity. In this context, Türkiye is undertaking various initiatives aimed at advancing its position as a developer nation. One such initiative is the TEKNOFEST Blockchain Competition (TBZY), organized to support the development of blockchain technology, cultivate specialized human resources in this field, and introduce innovative solutions to the technology ecosystem.

Objective and Vision of the Competition

The primary objective of the TEKNOFEST Blockchain Competition is to view blockchain technology not merely as a technical infrastructure but also as a tool for developing solutions to social and economic challenges. The competition aims to encourage participants to develop blockchain-based projects that:

• Generate innovative solutions to real-world problems in areas such as public administration, education, finance, banking, and logistics
• Foster knowledge accumulation and a skilled workforce in blockchain within Türkiye
• Develop open-source, interoperable, and sustainable technological infrastructures

The themes available for participants to work on cover various specialized domains of blockchain technology. Only projects developed within the following themes will be evaluated:

Eligibility Criteria

The TEKNOFEST Blockchain Competition is open to individuals from various educational levels across Türkiye. The eligibility conditions are as follows:

• Candidates may be undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral students. Graduates are eligible to apply only within three years of their graduation date.
• Participation must be in teams of at least two and no more than five individuals; individual applications are not accepted.

These conditions aim to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork.

Competition Process and Evaluation Stages

The competition consists of three main evaluation stages:

1. Project Preliminary Evaluation Report: This report provides preliminary information on the project’s core idea, objective, target audience, technologies to be used, and feasibility.
2. Project Presentation Report: This report details the project design, explains the technical architecture, and outlines concrete plans for implementation.
3. Online Presentation Stage: In the final stage, projects are presented to the jury in an online environment, followed by Q&A sessions for evaluation.
