TEKNOFEST Environment and Energy Technologies Competition

TEKNOFEST Environment and the Energy Technologies Competition is a platform organized to foster social awareness, promote the use of renewable energy resources, and support technological solutions in the fields of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. Conducted under TEKNOFEST, this competition aims to develop environmentally conscious, sustainable, and innovative projects aligned with Türkiye’s National Technology Initiative vision.

Objective and Scope

The primary objective of the competition is to ensure more efficient use of limited natural resources, generate technological solutions to address environmental challenges such as global warming and climate change such as, and support the implementation of eco-friendly ideas that enhance societal life. Additionally, raising environmental awareness in society and cultivating a culture of energy efficiency are among the competition’s goals. Within this framework, the competition provides a platform that encourages projects that are environmentally, economically, and technologically sustainable, and that advance innovative ideas to the prototype stage prototype.

Categories

The competition is organized under two main categories:

1. Environmental Technologies Category: Covers technological solutions in areas such as preventing environmental pollution, waste management, water improving air quality, and developing eco-friendly products and services.

2. Energy Technologies Category: Focuses on the use of renewable energy sources, development of energy-saving systems, energy storage technologies, and sustainable energy production.

Eligibility Criteria

Students and graduates from Türkiye and abroad education may participate. Additionally, companies or startups at the graduate level may form teams to apply. Each team may consist of a maximum of six members.

Competition Process and Evaluation Stages

The TEKNOFEST Environment and Energy Technologies Competition consists of three main stages:

1. Project Preliminary Evaluation Form: The initial application stage where teams present their project ideas clearly and comprehensively.

2. Project Presentation (Semifinal): Teams that pass the preliminary evaluation present their projects in detail to the jury. Criteria such as Technical content, feasibility, and impact are considered.

3. Prototype and Final Presentation: Teams advancing to the final stage participate in a field exhibition with their developed prototypes, present their projects to the jury, and winners are determined based on evaluation results.

National Technology Initiative and Sustainability

The competition undertakes a mission aligned with Türkiye’s National Technology Initiative vision to reduce dependence on external sources in environmental and energy sectors and to support the development of national technologies. At the same time, it encourages the emergence of innovative solutions toward a sustainable future by supporting young entrepreneurs and researchers.
