TEKNOFEST Unmanned Ground Vehicle Competition

TEKNOFEST Unmanned Ground Vehicles Competition is a technology competition organized to support Türkiye’s national technology vision and will be held for the first time in 2025. This competition, implemented within the framework of TEKNOFEST, Türkiye’s largest aviation, space and technology festival, aims to enable young engineers and technology entrepreneurs to showcase and enhance their skills in the field of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs).

Unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) are vehicles capable of movement and mission execution on land surfaces without human presence. They may be armored or unarmored, wheeled or tracked, and are used for a variety of mission-specific tasks such as troop transport, cargo delivery, surveillance, reconnaissance, and fire support. Today, these vehicles are not only widely used in military applications but also in numerous civilian and commercial sectors including disaster management, mining, agriculture, and industrial logistics.

The primary objective of the TEKNOFEST Unmanned Ground Vehicles Competition is to simulate the sequence of operational scenarios that UGVs may encounter on the battlefield within a competition course and to test vehicle performance under these conditions. The competition is structured around challenging scenarios designed to evaluate UGVs’ ability to perform a range of tasks, including fire support missions.

Teams participating in the competition are expected to adopt a multidisciplinary approach, bringing together expertise from various engineering disciplines to develop comprehensive solutions. Teams must possess knowledge and skills in the following areas:

• Mechanical manufacturing processes
• Electronic hardware and circuit design
• Embedded systems and software development
• Sensor technologies
• System-level architectural planning
• System integration and testing procedures

Teams wishing to participate in the TEKNOFEST Unmanned Ground Vehicles Competition must successfully complete several evaluation stages before being allowed to enter the competition course. These stages are as follows:

2. Critical Design Report
3. Vehicle Demonstration Video

Unmanned ground vehicles hold strategic importance in both military and civilian domains, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence, robotic systems, image processing, and communication technologies. Equipped with autonomous mobility, environmental sensing, decision-making systems, and mission adaptability, these vehicles play a critical role in the development of domestic and national defense technologies under the National Technology Initiative.
