The Eighties (Series)

Seksenler is one of the longest-running period series in Turkish television, first aired on TRT 1 on January 24, 2012. This nostalgic sitcom, produced by Mint Prodüksiyon, humorously portrays the social and cultural transformations of Turkey in the 1980s through the eyes of a family and their neighborhood residents.

The series follows the lives of the Özdemir family and their neighbors in a small Istanbul neighborhood, spanning from the 1980s to the present day. The family members—Fehmi and Rukiye’s children Ahmet, Nazlı, and Çağatay—interact with local shopkeepers and neighbors, while the show humorously explores societal changes of the era, traditional values, and the process of modernization.

Nevertheless, the series is generally regarded as one of the most significant productions in Turkish television history.

The series was filmed on the film studios owned by Mint Yapım in the Darıca district of Kocaeli.
