Plot

Andrew accepts the sham marriage on the condition that it leads to his promotion to editor. However, to convince immigration officials, the couple must visit Andrew’s family in Sitka, Alaska. Margaret, accustomed to her controlled city life, finds herself in an entirely different world. During the weekend spent with the Paxton family, the fake fiancés begin to see each other’s true selves, and their forced arrangement gradually transforms into real emotions.

Although the story is set in Alaska, the majority of filming took place in Massachusetts. The coastal town of Rockport served as the primary location to recreate the atmosphere of Sitka, Alaska. Other scenes were shot in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Boston, and Cape Ann. New York scenes were filmed in New York City. The chemistry between Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds was cited as one of the key factors in the film’s success.
