Trendyol Süper Lig 2025-26 Season Week 1

The first matchweek of the 2025–26 Trendyol Süper Lig was played between 9 and 11 August 2025. Among the notable new rules introduced for this season by the Turkish Football Federation are: goalkeepers being penalized with a corner kick if they hold the ball for more than 8 seconds, penalties being retaken if the ball is accidentally touched twice by the same player during a penalty kick, and only team captains being permitted to communicate directly with the referees. Three matches were postponed to a later date: Fenerbahçe–Alanyaspor, Kayserispor–Beşiktaş, and Fatih Karagümrük–Başakşehir. The opening match of the week was contested between Gaziantep FK and Galatasaray, while the closing match took place between Trabzonspor and Kocaelispor.

Gaziantep FK 0 - 3 Galatasaray

The opening match of the 2025–26 Trendyol Süper Lig season was played on 8 August 2025 at the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Stadium between Gaziantep FK and Galatasaray. Last season’s champions Galatasaray secured a convincing 3–0 away victory, starting the season with three points. Goals for the yellow-red team were scored by Barış Alper Yılmaz (2) and Eren Elmalı. VAR reviews and a red card decision were key moments of the match.

Additionally, in the 64th minute, goalkeeper Mustafa Burak Bozan’s handball outside the penalty area was confirmed by VAR, resulting in a red card.

Head Coach Statements

Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk expressed satisfaction with his players’ performance in the hot conditions. He praised Barış Alper Yılmaz for his two goals and one assist and highlighted Leroy Sané’s impactful play after coming on in the second half. He also noted that Osimhen was not included in the squad due to injury risk and is expected to feature in upcoming weeks.

Samsunspor 2 – 1 Gençlerbirliği

In the opening matchweek of the new Trendyol Süper Lig season, Samsunspor defeated Gençlerbirliği 2–1 at home to begin the league with a win. The match, held at the Samsun New 19 Mayıs Stadium, saw the home team maintain their advantage by scoring in both halves.

Antalyaspor 2 – 1 Kasımpaşa

In the opening matchweek of the 2025–26 Trendyol Süper Lig season, Antalyaspor defeated Kasımpaşa 2–1 at home to begin the league with a win. The match was played at the Corendon Airlines Park Antalya Stadium and officiated by referee Alper Akarsu. Antalyaspor’s goals were scored by Güray Vural in the 19th minute and Nikola Storm in the 40th minute. Kasımpaşa’s only goal came from Pape Gueye in the 31st minute.
