UEFA Champions League 2024-2025 Quarterfinal Stage

The UEFA Champions League 2024-2025 season quarter-final stage is a tournament phase featuring two-legged knockout matches between the eight teams that have advanced to this round, taking place between 8 and 16 April 2025. In this stage, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Inter, Paris Saint-Germain, Aston Villa, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund are competing to reach the semi-finals. The first legs were played on 8 and 9 April, and the return legs will be played on 15 and 16 April.

On 8 April, English representative Arsenal hosted Spanish side Real Madrid at home. The match ended 3–0 in favor of Arsenal. Declan Rice scored two goals from free kicks, and Mikel Merino added another.

On the same day in Germany, Bayern Munich faced Inter at home. The match ended 2–1 in favor of Inter. Goals from Lautaro Martínez and Davide Frattesi gave Inter the lead, while Thomas Müller scored for Bayern Munich.

On 9 April in Paris, home team Paris Saint-Germain defeated Aston Villa 3–1. Aston Villa’s goal came from Morgan Rogers, while Paris Saint-Germain’s goals were scored by Désiré Doué, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Nuno Mendes.

Barcelona defeated German side Borussia Dortmund 4–0. Goals were scored by Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski (2). In this match, Raphinha scored his 12th goal of the season, and Lewandowski netted his 105th goal in Champions League history.

On 15 April in England, Aston Villa will host Paris Saint-Germain in the return leg. Having lost the first leg 3–1 away, Aston Villa will play the rematch at Villa Park Stadium. The match will kick off at 22:00.

On the same evening in Germany, Borussia Dortmund will host Barcelona at Signal Iduna Park after suffering a 4–0 defeat in the first leg. The match will start at 22:00.

On 16 April in Spain, Real Madrid will host Arsenal at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in the return leg, following their 3–0 away defeat. The match will kick off at 22:00 Turkey Time.

On the same evening in Italy, Inter will host Bayern Munich at the San Siro Stadium. Having won the first leg 2–1 away, Inter holds the advantage going into the return leg. The match will be played at 22:00.

The semi-final matches will be played on 29–30 April and 6–7 May 2025. The final will be held on 31 May 2025 at the Fußball Arena München in Munich, Germany.

The second legs of the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League 2024-2025 season continued with two matches played on 15 April 2025. As a result of these matches, Spanish representative Barcelona and French representative Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) became the first teams to advance to the semi-finals.

The return leg played on 15 April 2025 took place at the home ground of Borussia Dortmund. In the early minutes of the match, the home side launched several attacks. In the 11th minute, Dortmund took the lead through a Panenka-style penalty kick by Serhou Guirassy. In the 49th minute, Guirassy doubled the lead with a header following a corner kick taken by Daniel Svensson, which he tracked well at the far post.

In the 54th minute, a cross from Fermín López was deflected into his own net by defender Ramy Bensebaini. In the 76th minute, Guirassy intercepted a clearance attempt by Ronald Araújo and scored with a shot, completing a hat-trick and extending the score to 3-1. The match ended with this scoreline, and Barcelona advanced to the semi-finals with a 5-3 aggregate advantage.

Barcelona will face the winner of the match between Bayern Munich and Inter Milan in the semi-finals.

The return leg was played on 15 April 2025 at Villa Park Stadium in England. PSG took the lead in the 11th minute through a goal by Achraf Hakimi. In the 27th minute, Nuno Mendes doubled the lead. Aston Villa reduced the deficit to one goal in the 34th minute with a goal by Youri Tielemans. The home side took a 3-2 lead in the match with goals from John McGinn in the 55th minute and Ezri Konsa in the 57th minute. However, PSG progressed to the next round with a 5-4 aggregate advantage.

Paris Saint-Germain will face the winner of the match between Arsenal and Real Madrid in the semi-finals.

The second legs of the quarter final stage of the UEFA Champions League 2024–2025 season were played on 16 April 2025. Following these matches, Arsenal and Inter advanced to the semifinals.

The return leg played on 16 April 2025 at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium ended with Arsenal winning 2–1. Arsenal failed to convert a penalty awarded in the 13th minute. In the 65th minute, Saka, receiving a pass from Merino, cut inside the penalty area and scored Arsenal’s first goal. Two minutes later, Vinícius Jr equalized by scoring for Real Madrid. In the 90+3rd minute, Gabriel Martinelli scored the winning goal, securing a 2–1 victory for Arsenal. The London club progressed to the semifinals with an aggregate score of 5–1.

French referee François Letexier officiated the match. The penalty awarded to Arsenal in the first half was confirmed after a VAR review; Saka’s attempt was saved by goalkeeper Courtois. The penalty awarded to Real Madrid was overturned following a VAR review.

The return leg played on 16 April 2025 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan ended in a 2–2 draw. Bayern Munich took the lead in the 52nd minute through Harry Kane; Inter equalized in the 58th minute via Lautaro Martínez. Benjamin Pavard put Inter ahead 2–1 in the 61st minute; Bayern equalized in the 76th minute through a goal by Eric Dier. Inter advanced to the next round with an aggregate score of 4–3.

Following the completion of the quarterfinal stage, the semifinal matchups were determined. Arsenal will face Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals. Inter will play against Barcelona. The first legs of the semifinals are scheduled for 29–30 April 2025, and the return legs for 6–7 May 2025. The final is planned to be played on 31 May 2025 at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
