King Abdullah II of Jordan’s Visit to Türkiye, the official visit by His Majesty King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Republic of Türkiye on 7 February 2026. During the visit, King Abdullah II met with the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, at the Presidential Dolmabahçe Working Office in Istanbul.

Official Welcome Ceremony and Talks

King Abdullah II of Jordan was received with an official welcome ceremony at the Presidential Dolmabahçe Working Office during his official visit to Türkiye. The ceremony was conducted under the hostmanship of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Following the official welcome ceremony, a one-on-one meeting took place between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Türkiye and King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, after which the discussions moved to delegational talks.

The Turkish delegation participating in the delegational talks included Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Chief of National Intelligence Agency Ibrahim Kalın, and Presidential Advisor on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç.

Investiture Ceremony of the Hussein Bin Ali Order

Following the conclusion of the talks, the Investiture Ceremony of the Hussein Bin Ali Order was held. During the ceremony, King Abdullah II of Jordan presented the Hussein Bin Ali Order to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

King Abdullah II of Jordan stated that the Hussein Bin Ali Order presented to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan symbolizes the friendship and brotherhood between Türkiye and Jordan. It was emphasized that the order represents the deep bonds of friendship and decades-long cooperation shared by the two countries and their peoples.

Statements by the Leaders

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in his remarks following the talks with King Abdullah II of Jordan, said: "I extend my gratitude for the honor bestowed upon me. I view and accept this order as a tangible manifestation of the deep historical ties between our countries and peoples. I believe this exceptional order will further strengthen our longstanding bonds of brotherhood and friendship."

President Erdoğan continued: "During today’s talks with my esteemed brother, King Abdullah of Jordan, we made important decisions to strengthen the friendship between our two countries. We found ourselves in agreement on the need for peace, tranquility, security and stability to prevail in every corner of our region. I expressed my appreciation to my valued brother for Jordan’s efforts regarding the sanctuaries of East Jerusalem. I wish that our talks will bring blessings to our countries and our region. I sincerely wish that the blessed month of Ramadan, which we will soon honor in 11 days, will open the doors of mercy, abundance and peace to our countries and the entire Islamic world."

Erdoğan noted that he thanked King Abdullah II and once again greeted the people of Jordan with respect and affection, saying: "May my Lord strengthen our brotherhood and solidarity."

King Abdullah II of Jordan, referring to Türkiye’s efforts to reduce tensions in the region, said: "Türkiye plays a vital role in its ongoing efforts to reduce tensions in the region and in safeguarding the sovereignty of all countries."

King Abdullah II, noting that the "Hussein Bin Ali Order" presented to President Erdoğan symbolizes the friendship and brotherhood between Jordan and Türkiye, stated: "This medal represents the deep bonds of friendship and brotherhood shared by our nations and peoples. It is an expression of appreciation for decades of cooperation between our two countries. I hope this symbol will also reflect our continued commitment to advancing our relations and serving our peoples and region."

Referring to the historical friendship between Türkiye and Jordan, King Abdullah II said: "This is nearly an eighty-year partnership, and there is tremendous potential to elevate it to even higher levels."

Abdullah noted that the meeting with President Erdoğan at the Dolmabahçe Working Office was highly productive, saying: "The productive talks we held today constitute an important step toward strengthening our bilateral cooperation in trade, industry, education, transportation and defense."

King Abdullah II, referring to Türkiye’s efforts to reduce regional tensions, added: "We remain in close coordination to restore stability in our region and continue working toward a just and lasting peace. Türkiye plays a vital role in its ongoing efforts to reduce tensions in the region and in safeguarding the sovereignty of all countries. We remain committed to working with you for a more peaceful Middle East." King Abdullah II also expressed his hope that the month of Ramadan would be blessed for everyone.

Following the investiture ceremony, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and King Abdullah II of Jordan attended a state banquet. The visit concluded after the banquet.

Joint Statement

Following the talks between His Majesty King Abdullah and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Türkiye, Jordan and Türkiye issued a joint statement on Saturday.

The full text of the statement is as follows:

"On 7 February 2026, His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan visited the Republic of Türkiye, where he was hosted by His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Türkiye in Istanbul. The visit provided the two leaders with an opportunity to exchange views on bilateral relations as well as regional issues.

The meeting, conducted in a spirit of cooperation, reflected the strong historical ties, exceptional relations and shared understanding between the two countries, while also highlighting their common goal of strengthening partnerships across various fields. The two leaders emphasized their determination to further elevate bilateral relations at all levels, culminating in the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2027.

Both sides underscored the importance of strengthening economic cooperation and increasing bilateral trade and investment. In this context, they encouraged the private sectors of both countries to explore new areas of collaboration, expand partnerships, and enhance the exchange of expertise and visits.

The two leaders welcomed the outcomes of the first meeting of the Joint Economic Commission held in Amman on 27–28 October 2025 and emphasized the importance of the effective implementation of the decisions taken.

The leaders reviewed existing frameworks of cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to the effective utilization of current agreements, including those related to trade and investment, and to deepening economic and industrial collaboration.

The two leaders reaffirmed the importance of ongoing coordination and cooperation in defense, industry and security, and drew attention to their shared interests regarding regional security and stability.

The meeting addressed current regional developments, with particular focus on the situation in Palestine. The two leaders expressed deep concern over the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, stressed the urgent need for unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid, and emphasized the necessity of initiating early recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.

The two leaders underscored the necessity of achieving a just and lasting peace based on a two-state solution, with an independent, sovereign and geographically contiguous Palestinian state whose capital is East Jerusalem. They highlighted the urgent need to restore calm in the West Bank, where Israel’s annexation policies, the forced displacement of thousands of Palestinians, and settler violence undermine the possibility of peace and prosperity.

The two leaders expressed their support for the peace efforts of United States President Donald Trump and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025), emphasizing that the process must create a concrete political path to end the war and implement the two-state solution in accordance with relevant UN resolutions.

The two leaders reiterated their unwavering rejection of occupation, military aggression and annexation, and emphasized the central importance of territorial integrity, sovereignty and national unity of all states for regional peace and stability. In this context, they expressed their support for the establishment of collective mechanisms consistent with international law to ensure security and prosperity in the region.

The two leaders firmly rejected any attempt to alter the legal and historical status quo of Jerusalem and its holy sites, and reaffirmed their rejection of all violations against the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Republic of Türkiye once again reaffirms its full respect for the Hashemite Custodianship over the Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and Jordan’s special role in their protection.

The two leaders recalled the critical importance of UNRWA and emphasized its indispensable role in providing essential services to the Palestinian people. They expressed deep concern over systematic Israeli actions against UNRWA, noting that such actions further worsen an already dire humanitarian situation, and called upon all partners to continue supporting UNRWA.

The two leaders reaffirmed their strong commitment to Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity, and expressed their hope for the successful completion of an inclusive political process. In this context, they called for the full implementation of the agreements announced on 18 and 30 January 2026, and emphasized the importance of combating all forms and manifestations of terrorism to ensure stability in the country. Türkiye, Jordan and Syria expressed their intention to enhance cooperation in the field of transportation. The leaders also highlighted the importance of preserving calm in southern Syria, called for an end to Israeli violations and full compliance with the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement, and underscored the importance of implementing the Suwayda Roadmap announced in September 2025.

At the conclusion of the visit, His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein expressed his gratitude to His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and its people for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation. His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein also extended an invitation to His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to visit Jordan.
