Visit of Niger's President Abdurrahman Tchiani to Türkiye (2026)

Visit of Niger President Abdurrahman Tchiani to Türkiye is an official visit conducted on 4 June 2026 with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations between Türkiye and Niger and deepening defense industry cooperation. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed Tchiani with an official ceremony at the Presidential Complex. As part of the visit program, Tchiani also inspected the facilities of ROKETSAN. Following bilateral and delegation-level meetings, he is expected to attend the signing ceremony of agreements and a joint press conference.

President Tchiani's official vehicle was greeted by mounted cavalry on the road in front of the Presidential Complex and escorted to the protocol entrance. President Erdoğan received Tchiani at the main entrance of the Complex.

For the two leaders seated in the ceremony area, a military band played the national anthems of both countries. The ceremony featured flags representing the 16 Turkish states in history and military personnel, followed by a 21-gun salute.

Tchiani greeted the Presidential Guard Regiment Ceremonial Unit with the words "Hello soldier". The two leaders introduced their respective delegations and then shook hands in front of the Turkish and Nigerien flags, posing for the press.

Senior Turkish officials present at the ceremony include: Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, Head of the National Intelligence Organization İbrahim Kalın, Director of Communication of the Presidency Burhanettin Duran, Chief of the Presidential Private Office Hasan Doğan, General Secretary of the Presidency Hakkı Susmaz, Presidential Advisor on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç, Head of the Presidency of Defense Industries Haluk Görgün, Deputy Chair of the Presidential Council for Security and Foreign Policies Çağrı Erhan and Governor of Ankara Yakup Canbolat.

Following the official welcoming ceremony, President Erdoğan and Tchiani held a bilateral meeting and then presided over delegation-level talks. After the conclusion of the discussions, the two leaders will attend the signing ceremony of agreements and a joint press conference.

Under the leadership of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), as part of international defense industry cooperation initiatives, Niger President Abdurrahman Tchiani and his delegation visited ROKETSAN, one of Türkiye’s leading defense industry companies, for an inspection.

During the visit, the national and indigenous capabilities of Türkiye’s defense industry, its high-tech production infrastructure, engineering expertise and future-oriented vision were comprehensively shared with the Niger delegation.

As part of the program, the delegation was briefed on the level achieved by Türkiye’s defense industry ecosystem, the country’s approach to domestic and national system development, and ROKETSAN’s advanced technological solutions tailored to diverse operational requirements.
