State Council of Sudan Chairman Abdulfettah el-Burhan’s Visit to Türkiye is an official visit carried out by State Council of Sudan Chairman Abdulfettah el-Burhan on 25 December 2025 in Ankara at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The visit consisted of a welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Complex, a closed-door bilateral meeting, and an inter-delegation working dinner. The visit addressed bilateral relations between Türkiye and Sudan as well as regional and global developments.
Welcoming Ceremony and Bilateral Meeting
State Council of Sudan Chairman Burhan was received by President Erdoğan at the entrance of the Presidential Complex. During the welcoming ceremony, Burhan paid respects to the ceremonial guard. The welcoming program was conducted in accordance with official protocol, followed by the bilateral meeting.
The bilateral meeting between President Erdoğan and Abdulfettah el-Burhan was held off the record. Discussions focused on bilateral relations between Türkiye and Sudan. Regional and global developments were also included on the agenda.
Areas of cooperation between Türkiye and Sudan were reviewed during the bilateral meeting. Trade, agriculture, defense industry, and mining emerged as key sectors of discussion. Evaluations were made regarding the enhancement and advancement of existing cooperation in these areas.
Not only bilateral relations but also regional and global developments were addressed during the meeting. The current situation in Sudan and developments in the surrounding region were among the topics discussed.
The humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing conflict in Sudan was also discussed. It was noted that the conflict in Sudan has led to one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises. Developments in the El Fasher region were specifically raised during the meeting.
It was stated that President Erdoğan expressed Türkiye’s goals of achieving a ceasefire in Sudan and establishing lasting peace among Sudanese people. Türkiye’s desire for peace, stability, and the preservation of Sudan’s territorial integrity was emphasized. Türkiye’s approach to addressing the needs of civilians affected by the humanitarian crisis in Sudan was also discussed. Türkiye reaffirmed its commitment to continuing humanitarian assistance to meet the needs of the Sudanese people.
Inter-Delegation Working Dinner
Following the bilateral meeting, an inter-delegation working dinner was held with the participation of President Erdoğan and State Council of Sudan Chairman Burhan. The working dinner was conducted off the record.
Senior officials representing the Republic of Türkiye were present at all meetings at the Presidential Complex. The welcoming ceremony, bilateral meeting, and working dinner were attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, Head of the National Intelligence Organization İbrahim Kalın, Head of the Presidential Communications Directorate Burhanettin Duran, Head of the Presidency of Defense Industries Haluk Görgün, and Presidential Advisor for Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç.
