We Are One February Earthquakes Commemoration Program

The "We Are One: 6 February Earthquakes Commemoration Program" is an official event held on the anniversary of the Earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş earthquakes that occurred on 6 February 2023, aimed at honoring those who lost their lives in the disaster and informing the public about ongoing recovery efforts in the affected region. The program took place on 6 February 2025 at the Adıyaman Youth and Sports Directorate Sports Hall.

Organization and Participants

The commemoration program was organized by Republic of Türkiye Presidency and relevant ministries. Attendees included President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Environment, Minister of Housing and Climate Change Murat Institution, Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, and other state officials. In addition, members of parliament, directors of public institutions and organizations, civil society representatives, and earthquake survivors participated in the ceremony.

Program Content

The event began with a moment of silence and the recitation of the Independence March. This was followed by a tilavet of Law'one-ı Kerim, prayers were recited, and a listening session titled "6 February Lament" was presented.

In their speeches, the impacts of the 6 February earthquakes were addressed, along with ongoing rescue and reconstruction efforts. Information was provided regarding investments made in housing, infrastructure, and public services in the affected region. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, while remembering the losses suffered as a result of the earthquakes on 6 February 2023, stated that 453,000 housing units would be completed by the end of the year and delivered to their owners.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya referred in his speech to the intervention and improvement efforts carried out after the earthquake and affirmed that the process of rebuilding cities in the affected region is still ongoing. Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum provided details about housing projects implemented after the earthquake and emphasized that the process is progressing rapidly to ensure earthquake survivors regain their new homes.

Housing Delivery

Live connections were established to deliver housing units completed in the earthquake zones. President Erdoğan connected to housing delivery ceremonies held in Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş and Malatya to hand over the keys.

Plaque Ceremony

Plaques of appreciation were awarded to institutions, organizations, and private sector representatives who contributed to search and rescue and reconstruction efforts after the earthquake. President Erdoğan presented the plaque to BAYKAR Board Chairman and Technology Leader Selçuk Bayraktar, noting that BAYKAR has gained international recognition for its unmanned aerial vehicles. He said, "Allah may it remain hidden. We now wish for these successes to continue and grow. May our Lord grant them assistance."

Anatolian Carnation Symbol

The Anatolian carnation was used as the symbol of the commemoration event, and badges featuring this symbol were distributed to attendees.
