History

World Meteorological Day was established to commemorate the entry into force of the Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in 1950. In connection with the organization’s 75th anniversary, the initiative “Early Warnings for All” was launched to expand global access to early warning services and to strengthen protection against hazardous weather events.
