

Zehra Güneş was born on 7 July 1999 in the Kartal district of Istanbul, Türkiye. A citizen of Türkiye, Güneş is one of the national volleyball players who represent the Republic of Türkiye at the international level. Beginning her sports career at a young age, Güneş attracted attention through her physical attributes and consistent development from grassroots levels. She started her volleyball career in Türkiye and continued her development there, and today she is among the country’s most recognized female athletes.
Zehra Güneş began her volleyball career by participating in youth development programs at various clubs in Istanbul. Recognized early for her achievements, she joined VakıfBank Spor Kulübü in 2014 and took her first step into professional volleyball. Through the talent she developed within VakıfBank’s youth system, she quickly became one of the team’s key players. In 2016, while still young, she was promoted to VakıfBank’s senior team and began achieving her first major successes at the club level. During her years at VakıfBank, she won numerous cups and championships both nationally and internationally.
Zehra Güneş has played exclusively for clubs in Türkiye throughout her professional volleyball career. With VakıfBank, she achieved significant success and gained international recognition, particularly through the club’s victories in international tournaments. She won championships with VakıfBank, one of Türkiye’s leading clubs, in the CEV Champions League, Europe’s most prestigious club competition. She also achieved success with her club at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship. Although she has no experience playing abroad, she has gained substantial international experience at both club and national team levels.
Zehra Güneş was called up to the Türkiye Women’s National Volleyball Team in 2015 and made a rapid start to her national team career. Shortly after joining the national team at a young age, she participated in the 2017 European Volleyball Championship, marking her first major international tournament at the senior level. She won a bronze medal at the 2019 European Championship and a silver medal at the 2021 FIVB Nations League. Her most significant achievement with the national team came in 2023 with the CEV European Championship title. Additionally, Güneş has stood out as one of the team’s most reliable blockers, known for her strong performances in the middle blocker position.
Zehra Güneş plays as a middle blocker in her volleyball career. In this role, she assumes a critical function in both the defensive and offensive organization of the team.
During her time at VakıfBank Spor Kulübü, Zehra Güneş has signed her name to numerous important achievements at both national and international levels. Her successes at the club level have been among the foundational pillars of VakıfBank’s reputation as one of Türkiye’s most prestigious volleyball clubs.
Zehra Güneş has contributed to numerous international successes with the Türkiye Women’s National Volleyball Team. Her impactful performances for the national team have established her as a recognized athlete on the global stage.
