Cengiz Coşkun (born 29 April 1982, Istanbul) is a Turkish model and actor of Bulgarian immigrant descent. He graduated from the Sports Academy of Marmara University and has a professional basketball background.

Life and Education

Coşkun was born into a family where his mother was a homemaker and his father a machine technician. His family migrated from Bulgaria to Türkiye. Coşkun developed an interest in sports at an early age and began his professional basketball career with Ülkerspor, where he played for seven years. He then played for Erdemir Ereğli Spor for two years and Balıkesir DSİ Spor for one year. He graduated from the Sports Academy of Marmara University in 2008.

Modeling Career

In 2002, he placed third in the Best Model of Turkey competition. In the same year, he won the awards for “Best Photogenic Model” and “Best Physique Model” at an international male modeling contest held in London, finishing fourth overall. Following these achievements, he launched his modeling career.

Acting Career

Coşkun received his acting training at Şahika Tekand’s workshop. He began his television career in 2005 with the role of “Mercan” in the series Rüzgarlı Bahçe. In 2006, he portrayed “Kaan Atalay” in the series Candan Öte. He appeared in the series Doktorlar in 2007 and Hicran Yarası in 2009.

He launched his film career in 2012 with the role of Giovanni Giustiniani in the film Fetih 1453. In the same year, he portrayed Special Forces Lieutenant Colonel Tuğrul Tümen in the film Dağ. In 2013, he participated in the Survivor Türkiye competition under the format “Ünlüler–Gönüllüler 3”.

In 2014, he began appearing in the series Diriliş: Ertuğrul as Turgut Alp, a role that brought him widespread recognition. The series was broadcast in various countries and aired on Netflix under the title “Resurrection: Ertugrul”. In the same year, Coşkun played the character “Ali” in the film Çekmeceler, directed by M. Caner Alper and Mehmet Binay.

In the 2020 film Malazgirt 1071, he portrayed Sultan Alp Arslan. In 2022, he played Yavuz Sultan Selim in the production Yavuz, and in 2023, he portrayed the character “Hamid” in the series Russian Affairs. In 2024, he took on the role of “Bumin Kağan” in the production İlk Göktürk: Önsöz.

Since 2021, he has portrayed the character “Turgut Bey” in the ATV series Kuruluş: Osman.

Production Work

In addition to his acting career, Coşkun served as a producer for the 2023 series Yaratılan.
