Kayseri University (KAYÜ)

Kayseri University (KAYÜ) is a higher education institution located in the city of Kayseri, Türkiye. The university focuses on applied sciences and vocational education, offering undergraduate and associate degree programs.

Kayseri University was established on 18 May 2018 under Law No. 7141. Its establishment involved the transfer of several units from Erciyes University, which were consolidated under a single umbrella to strengthen applied and vocational education. The transferred units included the School of Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Tourism, the Faculty of Aviation and Space Sciences, and the vocational schools of Mustafa Çıkrıkçıoğlu, Social Sciences, Halil Bayraktar Health Services, and Safiye Çıkrıkçıoğlu Food Technology.

The main campus of the university is the 15 July Campus located in the Talas district of Kayseri. Educational activities are also conducted at various other campuses and buildings across different districts of Kayseri. These district campuses include vocational school buildings in Develi, Bünyan, Pınarbaşı, Tomarza, Yahyalı, and Yeşilhisar. Additionally, a vocational school unit operates within the Organized Industrial Zone (OSB).

The total number of students at the university is 14,780. Student admissions are primarily based on results from the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) and the Vertical Transition Examination (DGS). Students admitted to undergraduate and associate degree programs are selected according to their centralized placement scores. The university also conducts its own application and evaluation processes for international student admissions.

The university offers programs at the undergraduate and associate degree levels in accordance with its applied education model.

Associate Degree Programs:

These programs are delivered through vocational schools and include: Alternative Energy Sources Technology, Culinary Arts, Computer Programming, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Dialysis, Industrial Product Design, Physiotherapy, Food Technology, Unmanned Vehicle Technology, Machinery, Mechatronics, Autonomous Systems Technician, Civil Aviation Operations, and Artificial Intelligence Operator.

The university implements exchange programs to support international mobility and cooperation. These include the Erasmus+, Mevlana Exchange Program, and the national Farabi Exchange Program. Additionally, the Orhun Exchange Program is conducted to promote student and faculty mobility among member universities of the Turkish Universities Union (TÜRÜNİB).

The university grants internal achievement awards under the name Research Performance Award to evaluate contributions to academic publications, projects, and scientific studies. These awards are presented annually to academic staff who have made the greatest contributions to the university according to performance criteria. Examples of award recipients include Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Taşyürek from the School of Information Technologies and Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Benli, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatma Kılıç Dokan, and Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Mustafa Kalay from the Mustafa Çıkrıkçıoğlu Vocational School.^【1】

StartUpMYO Entrepreneurship Competition Awards – Awards have been presented to winning projects in the StartUpMYO competition, which is organized for vocational school students and graduates:

First Place: Awarded to the project “Precision Weed Control Machine for Beetroot Farming” (Award presented by Governor Gökmen Çiçek).

Second Place: Awarded to the project “Comprehensive Mobile Tracking Application for Dialysis Patients” (Award presented by Member of Parliament Dr. Murat Cahid Cıngı).

Third Place: Awarded to the project “ProTwins Digital Transformation” (Award presented by KAYÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa).^【2】

In addition to its academic and professional achievements, the university has received several national and international awards. The total distribution of awards and scholarships at KAYÜ is as follows:

The 15 July Campus provides physical facilities to meet students’ academic and social needs, including classrooms, laboratories, workshops, a library, cafeteria, and sports facilities. The library offers access to both printed and digital resources. Laboratories are equipped with tools that enable students to apply theoretical knowledge in practice.
