Ramazanoğlu Konağı is a historical building located within the Ulucami Külliyesi on Kızılay Caddesi in the Seyhan district of Adana. It is regarded as one of Adana’s oldest structures and constitutes the surviving portion of the Ramazanoğlu Beylik Palace, specifically the Selamlık section which served as its administrative center. Today, it operates as the Ramazanoğlu Konağı Culture Center of Çukurova University.
According to an inscription on the entrance door, the building was commissioned in 1495 by Ramazanoğlu Halil Bey. However, it is understood that the structure was originally constructed between 1360 and 1400 and that the 1495 inscription marks a restoration date. The Piri Paşa Vakfiyesi describes it as a tall and large building designed with separate winter and summer quarters within its garden.
The building has survived to the present day through continuous repairs due to its historical significance. Recognized as an important example of Beylik period architecture, it is among the limited number of surviving civil architectural examples from the 14th century to the present.
Ramazanoğlu Konağı (AA)
Ramazanoğlu Konağı has hosted important state officials throughout its history. It is known that Yavuz Sultan Selim stayed here for three nights during his campaign to Egypt and that Sultan Murad IV spent three nights here before his campaign to Baghdad. Kanuni Sultan Süleyman also stayed at this residence in 1535 during his visit to Adana as a guest of Ramazanoğlu Piri Bey.
The poet and governor of Adana Ziya Paşa used the reception hall on the ground floor of the mansion as his official reception room during his governorship from 1878 to 1880. Later, Hacı Hasan Efendi used the same hall for the same purpose during his tenure as governor of Adana.
