About the City
Amasya is a historic city located in the interior of the Black Sea Region, along the banks of the Yeşilırmak River. Throughout history, numerous civilizations including the Hittites, Phrygians, Persians, Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks, and Ottomans have ruled over this land.
The Rock Tombs of the Kings, which have become the symbol of the city, are monumental tombs carved into high cliffs during the Kingdom of Pontus.
