On this special day, more than 300 museums and historical sites across Türkiye open their doors to visitors. From ministers to famous actors, from YouTubers to students, everyone visits museums and takes photos with their favorite historical artifacts. These photos are shared on social media using the hashtag #MuseumSelfieDay. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism also turns this fun day into a competition, awarding prizes such as the MüzeKart, which grants free museum access for a year, to those who take the most beautiful photos. In this way, people engage with history while also having a chance to win rewards.

Famous Museums in Istanbul
Istanbul, rich in historical artifacts, is one of the cities with the most photo shares during this event. The Topkapı Sarayı, where Ottoman sultans lived, and the magnificent Ayasofya are among the most photographed sites by visitors. The Istanbul Arkeoloji Müzesi, home to historical statues, and the Kariye Müzesi, famous for its mosaics, are also frequently visited.
