The attack occurred at Bondi Beach in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, specifically around the Bondi Pavilion and surrounding open areas. It was noted that over a thousand people were present at the beach and its vicinity, with the event taking place in a crowded environment.

According to statements by the New South Wales Police, the attack was carried out using long-barreled firearms. Two armed perpetrators opened fire on the crowd during an event specifically targeting celebrants.
