Prof. Dr. Ayşe Erzan is a scientist whose work focuses on theoretical physics. Her research areas include statistical physics, complex systems, fractal geometry, and dynamical systems. Her contributions to both theoretical and applied physics have enriched the scientific literature through various academic publications. She has also been active in science policy and academic structures, participating in several institutional initiatives in these fields.
Prof. Dr. Erzan completed her undergraduate studies in the Department of Physics at Istanbul University and pursued her graduate and doctoral studies in theoretical physics at the University of Chicago in the United States. During her doctoral studies, she concentrated on statistical physics and phase transitions.
After completing her education, she returned to Türkiye and began her academic career at İstanbul Technical University, where she conducted research in theoretical physics. She attained the rank of professor at this institution and was among the founding members of the Türkiye Bilimler Akademisi (TÜBA) and Bilim Akademisi.
Prof. Dr. Erzan’s research focuses on complex systems, statistical physics, fractal geometry, and dynamical systems. She has worked on mathematical models of fractal structures, scale invariance, and phase transitions, publishing studies on the modeling of various dynamical processes using methods such as “q-analysis of fractal sets”. These works have also found applications in several applied scientific disciplines beyond physics.
She has investigated the relationships between microscopic and macroscopic scales using principles of statistical mechanics and thermodynamics. Her research has been published in international peer-reviewed journals.
Prof. Dr. Erzan has been involved in various initiatives promoting the support of scientific research, the protection of academic freedom, and the encouragement of young researchers. She has participated in the activities of organizations such as the Türkiye Bilimler Akademisi and Bilim Akademisi, and has initiated efforts in scientific communication, mentorship, and academic collaboration.
Throughout her academic career, she has participated in numerous international conferences, served on scientific committees, and collaborated with researchers from different countries. These collaborations have played a role in developing interdisciplinary approaches.
Prof. Dr. Erzan’s publications primarily focus on theoretical physics, especially fractal analysis and complex systems. Her work has appeared in various academic journals, as well as in book chapters and reports.
