Bağdatlı Ruhi was an Ottoman poet who lived a long time ago. His poems were both critical and full of lessons.
Bağdatlı Ruhi’s real name was Osman. He was born in Baghdad, but we don’t know exactly when he was born. His father was an Ottoman soldier, and Ruhi also worked as a soldier for a while, like his father. But his true passion was writing poetry, so he dedicated his life to it.
Bağdatlı Ruhi spent the last years of his life in Damascus, where he passed away around the year 1604.
Bağdatlı Ruhi was not just a poet; he was also a guide who talked about the problems in society.
