BG Group 4 September Stadium

BG Group 4 September Stadium is one of Sivas’ largest sports facilities and is home to Sivasspor. Completed in 2016 stadium, the stadium stands out for its modern architecture and ecological design approach. With a capacity of 27,817 spectators, the stadium was constructed to withstand Sivas’ harsh winter conditions.

Design and Features

Designed by Bahadır Kul Architecture, the stadium is distinguished by its climate-responsive structure. The exterior façade features a double-wall insulation system that blocks cold northern winds. Additionally, large glass panels on the east and west façades allow natural sun light to warm the interior spaces. Photovoltaic panels on the southern façade generate 798 kW of energy daily, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 160 households.

The stadium roof incorporates a rain water collection system. This system captures and stores rain and snow water for use in environment irrigation and reservoirs, thereby minimizing water consumption and creating a sustainable building.

Construction and Opening

The foundation of the BG Group 4 Eylül Stadium was laid on 25 May 2013 and construction was completed in 2016. The stadium was officially opened on 14 August 2016 with a match between Sivasspor and Tokatspor. The construction cost was set at 82 million TL, and the project took approximately one year longer than originally planned long.

Night Lighting Project

In 2023, a unique night lighting system, the first of its kind in Türkiye, was integrated into the stadium. This system, used in only a few stadiums in Türkiye, employs 400 distinct choreography to create a visual contribution to the city’s silhouette. The lighting project was implemented in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Republic and financed by BG Group.

Location and Access

The stadium is located in the southwest of Sivas city center, offering a favorable position for urban transportation. Sivas Train Station is situated directly opposite the stadium, while the bus terminal is approximately a 20-minute walk away. Additionally, shared taxis running from Government Square provide easy access to the stadium movement.
