BYD Han

BYD Han is a D-segment, fully electric luxury sedan developed by the Chinese automaker BYD Auto and first introduced in 2020. This model symbolizes BYD’s advancements in electric vehicle technology, standing out for both safety and high performance through its e-Platform 3.0 architecture and Blade Battery technology. The Han is positioned as one of the cornerstone models in BYD’s strategy to enter the global premium vehicle market.

The BYD Han features a fastback-style aerodynamic sedan body. At the front, sharp-edged LED headlights, a closed grille design, and a low nose profile are prominent, while the side profile draws attention with elegant window frames and a sporty shoulder line. The rear is enhanced with a full-width light bar and an integrated spoiler that reinforce its sporty character. Design details throughout the exterior strengthen the vehicle’s luxurious and modern identity, while a low drag coefficient of 0.233 Cd improves aerodynamic efficiency.

The BYD Han has been offered in various versions across different markets. The fully electric (EV) variant produces a total output of 380 kW (approximately 509 horsepower) and 700 Nm of torque through a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration. With this power, the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3.9 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of up to 185 km/h. The usable battery capacity is 85.4 kWh, providing a range of up to 520 kilometers according to WLTP standards. The DC fast-charging system supports up to 120 kW, enabling the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in about 44 minutes. The vehicle also features a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, allowing it to supply power to external devices.

The interior of the BYD Han is designed with a luxury-focused, technology-driven architecture. Napa leather seats, light-colored upholstery, and aluminum trim accents enhance the perception of quality. A 15.6-inch rotating multimedia display located on the center console provides personalized information and entertainment access for both driver and passengers. Additionally, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster delivers advanced driving information in digital format. Other standout interior features include a premium Dynaudio audio system, a panoramic glass roof, a wireless charging unit, and a multi-zone digital climate control system.

The Han is equipped with a comprehensive advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). This system includes adaptive cruise control (ACC), automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane-keeping assist (LKA), lane change assist (LCA), blind-spot detection (BSD), traffic sign recognition (TSR), and a 360-degree surround-view camera system. Furthermore, the vehicle supports over-the-air (OTA) software updates, enabling continuous improvement of its digital systems. Through mobile app integration, functions such as vehicle status, charging level, and climate control can be remotely managed.

The BYD Han was first launched in China in 2020 and later expanded to Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific markets. In 2022, a facelift introduced updates to both the exterior design and technical underpinnings. In addition to the EV version, BYD also produces the Han DM-i (plug-in hybrid with a combined internal combustion and electric motor) and the performance-oriented Han DM-p variant. These variants allow BYD to cater to diverse customer profiles. The Han is BYD’s first electric sedan to compete in the luxury segment against vehicles such as the Tesla Model S, Mercedes-Benz EQE, and BMW i5 in Europe.
