Dr. Joe Dispenza is an international educator researcher corporate consultant author and lecturer who has been invited to give lectures in more than 33 countries across six continents. He received his undergraduate education in biochemistry at Rutgers University and holds a bachelor of science degree in neuroscience. His graduate research focused on neurology brain function cellular biology memory formation aging and longevity. He earned his doctorate in chiropractic from Life University in Atlanta Georgia with lifetime honors.
In 1986 a serious bicycle racing accident caused severe damage to his spine. Although all physicians insisted that surgery was necessary Dispenza refused to undergo it. Instead he concentrated on healing his spine through intensive meditation mental focus and body awareness techniques. After a period of nine and a half weeks he regained the ability to walk and did not require a wheelchair.
The recovery process directed Dispenza toward investigating the mind-body connection. Following conversations with individuals in various countries he began studying how mental activities influence physical healing. He gained widespread recognition after appearing in the 2004 documentary What the Bleep Do We Know.
In his first book published in 2007 titled Evolve Your Brain: The Science of Changing Your Mind he explained how the brain can change and how thought patterns can be transformed. His 2012 book Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself focused on practical methods for mental transformation.
In his 2014 book You Are the Placebo he examined scientifically through data and case studies how the placebo effect can be generated by an individual’s own power of thought. During this period he collaborated with research teams that measured participants brain waves during meditation and documented the physiological effects of mental processes.
In his 2017 book Becoming Supernatural he explored how individuals can transform their lives using the concept of the quantum field and how they can direct their genes before environmental conditions influence them.
Dr. Dispenza organizes three-day progressive workshops five-day advanced intensives and seven-day retreats worldwide. These programs teach meditation techniques mind-body synchronization and personal transformation methods. He also offers online courses and audio lectures.
Dispenza works with a research team that uses scientific instruments to objectively record changes in the brain during meditation and shares the resulting data with participants and scientists.
