
French actress Eva Green began her career in theater and quickly emerged as a figure of international attention. Eva Gaëlle Green was born on 6 July 1980 in Paris. She is the daughter of French actress and writer Marlène Jobert and Swedish dentist Walter Green. She grew up with her fraternal twin sister, Joy Green. Although her mother had an artistic background, Eva’s initial pursuit of acting was met with resistance. Nevertheless, at the age of seventeen, she enrolled at the St. Paul Drama School in Paris, where she studied for three years. She later attended a ten-week advanced acting program at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in England. It was during this period that she was discovered by Bernardo Bertolucci.
Her first film, The Dreamers (2003), marked a turning point in Eva Green’s career. Her bold scenes and powerful performance attracted critical attention. This breakthrough led to an offer from director Ridley Scott for the role of Princess Sibylla in his film Kingdom of Heaven (2005). In 2012, she starred alongside Johnny Depp in Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows, portraying the vengeful witch Angelique Bouchard. In 2014, she appeared as Artemisia in 300: Rise of an Empire and as Ava Lord in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. In 2016, she reunited with Tim Burton to take the lead role in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
In 2020, Eva Green portrayed Lydia Wells in the miniseries The Luminaries. In 2023, she appeared as Alison Rowdy in the Apple TV+ series Liaison. In 2024, she starred in the film Dirty Angels. Eva Green has previously been in relationships with Yann Claassen and Marton Csokas, her co-star from Kingdom of Heaven. She separated from Csokas in 2009.
