Fatma Nur Çelik (1981–2026) was a Turkish biology teacher. She served as a biology teacher in schools under the Ministry of National Education and came into public prominence after she was killed in an attack carried out by a student at the school where she was working in Istanbul in 2026.
Fatma Nur Çelik was born in 1981. After completing her university education in biology, she began her career as a teacher. She worked as a biology teacher in various educational institutions under the Ministry of National Education. Çelik, who taught at the secondary education level, continued her teaching activities in public schools throughout her professional life. She was married and a mother of one child.
In 2026, while working at a school in Istanbul, she was attacked with a knife by a student. Severely injured in the attack, Çelik died in the hospital to which she was taken. Following the incident, the student who carried out the attack was taken into custody and subsequently detained by the court.
As part of the investigation launched into the incident, the administrative functioning of the school was also examined. During the investigation, certain administrative measures were taken regarding the school administration, and decisions were made to remove two school administrators from their duties. The incident reignited public debate on security in educational institutions and violence against teachers.
