Ganire Alasgar qızı Paşayeva was born on 24 March 1975 in the village of Düz Kırıklı, Tovuz Rayon of Azerbaijan. She completed her primary and secondary education in Tovuz and continued her higher education at the Department of Pediatrics of Azerbaijan Medical University. In addition to her medical training, she graduated from the Department of International Law at Baku State University. Noted for her multidisciplinary education, Paşayeva specialized in health and law fields. In addition to Azerbaijani Turkish, she spoke English and Russian. She was unmarried.

Professional Career

In 1998, Paşayeva was appointed to the media field and began working at ANS Television as a reporter. During this period, she held various roles including presenter, program producer, and manager. Through her media experience, she became a well-known public figure.

In 2005, she was appointed Head of the Public Relations Department at the Aliyev Foundation. In the same year, on 6 November 2005, she ran as a candidate in the parliamentary elections and was elected as a Member of Parliament for Tovuz, entering the National Assembly of Azerbaijan. She held this position continuously through the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th legislature terms.

Political Roles and Influence

Ganire Paşayeva held numerous important positions within the National Assembly of Azerbaijan. Notably, as Chair of the Culture Commission, she led initiatives aimed at preserving and promoting Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage.

She also served as a member of the Standing Committee on International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations. She was Chair of the Azerbaijan-Georgia Inter-Parliamentary Work Group and an active member of the Azerbaijan-Turkey, Azerbaijan-India and Azerbaijan-Japan inter-parliamentary friendship groups. She represented Azerbaijan in the delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Europe Council (APCE).

Ganire Paşayeva was regarded as a significant figure for the entire Turkic world. As a politician who strengthened ties between Turkey and Azerbaijan, she frequently participated in events in Turkey, appeared on television programs, and delivered speeches at various platforms. She was known for the statement: “The strength of Turkey means the strength of the Turkic world.”

Literary, Academic and Cultural Activities

In addition to her careers in journalism and politics, Paşayeva was also a writer known for her interest in poetry and literature. She gained recognition through books such as Vatan Korkusu, Allah Seven Kalplerdedir, Yitirdiğim Mutluluk, Gül Ömürler Solmasın, Aşk Başka, Kuma Yazılan Acılar, Sahipsiz Sanılan Nağmelerimiz, Turan Yolcusu, Türk Ruhunun Söz Bayrağı Ahmed Cavad, Karabağ’dan Doğan Güneş ve Ay Hurşidbanu Natevan Fatime Hanım Kemine, Azerbaycan Edebiyatında Karabağ Hikâyeleri, Bağımsızlığa Adanmış Ömür Yusuf Vezir Çemenzeminli.

Death

Ganire Paşayeva was admitted to a hospital in Baku on 24 September 2023 due to an unknown hypotensive condition and placed in intensive care. Despite all medical interventions, she passed away on 28 September 2023. Her funeral prayer was held at the Haydar Mosque in the capital Baku, after which she was laid to rest at the 2nd Fahri Hıyaban, the state cemetery. Her funeral was attended by her family, numerous Azerbaijani MPs, Turkish officials, and many admirers.

In 2017, Ganire Paşayeva was appointed Deputy Chair of the World Alpagut Federation. Throughout her life, she fought for the unity and strength of the Turkic world in political, cultural and academic arenas.
