Gürsel Aksel Stadium

Gürsel Aksel Sports and Healthy Living Center is a sports complex built on the site of the former stadium in the Residence district of İzmir for Göztepe Club. Designed in accordance with UEFA and Turkish Football Federation standards, it is planned not merely as a sports facility but as a multifunctional space integrated with its surroundings interaction city.

Architectural Structure

Located within a dense urban fabric, the stadium has a capacity of approximately 20,000 spectators. The arena is positioned about six meters above ground level to enhance its connection with the surrounding environment. The lower levels house community centers, food and beverage areas, a sports museum, exhibition spaces, and an indoor parking facility as social areas.

In the facade design, non-reflective materials have been used, and vertical precast elements have been applied to harmonize with the adjacent residential areas. Additionally, the stadium’s roof area has been conceived as an escape and gathering space for local residents, featuring a panoramic terrace and a walking path.

Technical Features and Infrastructure

The stadium’s main tribune includes protocol, VIP, and press sections with a combined capacity of 1,983 seats, along with 24 private boxes and athlete areas. The north, south, and east tribunes are entirely dedicated to fans. Ground-level entrances for VIPs, protocol guests, and athletes, as well as parking access points, are available. In addition, open food and beverage and social areas are located along the north, south, and east facades of the stadium.

The Legend Tour Experience

Under the “Legend Tur” program offered to Göztepe fans and visitors, the most distinctive parts of the stadium can be explored. For the first time in Türkiye, the stadium roof has been opened to visitors, allowing access to areas such as the pitchside, substitute benches, dressing rooms, press conference room, and protocol box. Additionally, visitors are offered an engaging experience through penalty kick activities, presentations on Göztepe’s history, and question-and-answer sessions.

Visitors participating in the stadium tour are given gifts such as a jersey, a VIP invitation, a personalized name memorial ticket, and the Göztepe Magazine to create an unforgettable memory.
