Hakan Taşıyan (born 1 April 1973, Ankara) is a Turkish singer songwriter and actor. Known for his work in the arabesk and fantasy music genres he has also appeared in numerous television series and films alongside his music career.
Hakan Taşıyan was born on 1 April 1973 in Ankara. His mother is from Trabzon and his father is from Diyarbakır. Among his thirteen siblings the known ones are Fikret Derviş Özkan Sinem and Gurbet.
As the son of a musician Hakan developed an interest in music from childhood. His father Derviş Taşıyan earned a living by playing the clarinet at wedding halls and taverns. Hakan Taşıyan began playing the saz at an early age and accompanied his father to weddings and various events marking the first steps of his musical journey.
The foundations of Hakan Taşıyan’s professional music career were laid during his military service. After the songs he performed in the army received praise from his peers and commanders he sought with their support to release his first album.
Seeking to enter the music industry Taşıyan met with producers in Istanbul’s Unkapanı district. However he failed to attract interest from some producers who compared his style to that of the artist Müslüm Gürses. Unable to achieve results in Istanbul he returned to Ankara and prepared his first album under the Sıla Müzik label. In 1996 he released his debut album Hesabım Bitmedi. This was followed by Sensiz İki Gün in 1997 and Gözünü Seveyim in 1998. Throughout his career he has released many albums including Güz Gülleri Mor Hicranlar and Mutluluk Yağmuru.
In addition to his musical endeavors Taşıyan has pursued an acting career. In 1998 he played the lead role in the television series Hesabım Bitmedi alongside Hilal Aslangiray and Ebru Destan. In 2001 he portrayed the character Kemal in the series Güz Gülleri working alongside actors such as Murat Soydan Erdinç Akbaş Özlem Savaş and Nilgün Belgün. He also appeared as a guest actor in the 2015 film Kardeş Payı. Since 3 December 2016 he has hosted the program Hakan Yılmaz’la on Bengütürk TV.
At times during Hakan Taşıyan’s concerts audiences have engaged in self-harming behavior a phenomenon that has drawn public attention. Taşıyan has consistently stated that he does not endorse such actions and has conveyed messages of friendship to his fans. In a statement regarding the issue he said:
"We occasionally encounter sad incidents at our concerts. It is the audience who bring us to these places. Let everything be filled with friendship brotherhood and peace. Such events deeply sadden us. We hope those who listen to us express their affection in more beautiful ways."
Hakan Taşıyan is married to Funda Taşıyan and has one son named Ramazan Haktan Taşıyan born in 2002. On 20 October 2020 he was admitted to a hospital in Ankara with a diagnosis of multiple organ failure. Following a period in intensive care he underwent liver and kidney transplant surgeries. After a prolonged treatment process he was discharged seven months after the transplant procedures.
