Harran University

Harran University is a public university established in 1992 in Şanlıurfa. Named after Harran, one of the oldest settlements in Mesopotamia, the university integrates the region’s deep educational heritage with a modern academic structure. The university conducts undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education with Turkish as the language of instruction.

History

Higher education activities in Şanlıurfa began with the establishment of the Şanlıurfa Vocational School in 1976. Subsequently, the Faculty of Agriculture was founded in 1978 under Dicle University, followed by the Department of Civil Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering in 1984. In 1988, the Faculty of Theology was opened under Gaziantep University. These units were incorporated into Harran University by Law No. 3837 dated 9 July 1992.

Academic Units

Harran University offers a broad range of academic units including faculties, colleges, vocational schools and institutes. These include the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry and Faculty of Pharmacy.

The university also hosts three institutes (Institute of Natural Sciences, Institute of Social Sciences and Institute of Health Sciences), four colleges and fourteen vocational schools. These units enable the university to provide a wide spectrum of undergraduate and postgraduate education.

Campuses

The main campus of Harran University is the Osmanbey Campus, located at the 18th kilometer of the Şanlıurfa-Mardin Road. Built on an area of 27,000 decares, this campus houses the Faculties of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and Economics and Administrative Sciences, along with various institutes and research centers.

The Yenişehir Campus is located in the center of Şanlıurfa city and hosts the Faculty of Dentistry, the School of Health Services and the School of Foreign Languages. The Eyyübiye Campus accommodates the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the School of Social Sciences Vocational Education and the Animal Hospital.
