In its early years, Hyundai focused primarily on economical family cars. In the 1990s, through international collaborations, the company improved its product quality standards. Hyundai uses the E-GMP (Electric–Global Modular Platform) for electric vehicle production. The Ioniq series is built on this platform, which provides a shared infrastructure for BEV and hybrid vehicles in terms of battery architecture, fast charging support, and range capacity. The company also invests in autonomous driving systems, robotaxi projects, and software-based vehicle technologies.

Hyundai has production facilities in South Korea, the USA, Europe, China, and India. As of 2024, global sales reached 4.14 million units. Revenue increased by 7.7% to KRW 175.2 trillion, with an operating margin of 8.1% and a net profit of KRW 13.23 trillion.

Total sales in 2024 declined by 1.8%, while hybrid and electric vehicle sales grew by 8.9%. Hybrid vehicle sales reached 496,780 units, and battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales totaled 218,500 units. Hyundai’s global sales target for 2025 is 4.17 million vehicles.

Hyundai aims to increase total vehicle sales by 30% by 2030. The company plans to expand its hybrid portfolio, increase the accessibility of electric vehicles, build new production facilities, boost local production capacity, and expand partnerships in autonomous mobility. Hyundai is also in discussions with General Motors for collaboration in commercial electric vehicles.
