İbrahim Kutluay was born on January 7, 1974, in Yalova, Türkiye. He began playing basketball at a young age in Istanbul. He started his professional basketball career with Fenerbahçe, where he played for many years. Throughout his career, he also competed in Greece, Italy, and the United States.

Career
Club Career
Kutluay began his professional basketball career in 1990 with Fenerbahçe and played there until 1999. In the 1999–2000 season, he transferred to AEK Athens of the Greek Basketball League. Between 2000 and 2003, he played for Panathinaikos and won the EuroLeague championship in 2002. After playing for Ülkerspor in the 2003–2004 season, he joined the NBA’s Seattle SuperSonics in 2004–2005 for a brief stint. He later returned to Panathinaikos, then rejoined Ülkerspor for a second period. In the 2006–2007 season, he played for Fortitudo Bologna of the Italian League. His final club was Efes Pilsen during the 2007–2008 season.
National Team Career
İbrahim Kutluay played for many years with the Türkiye men’s national basketball team. He represented Türkiye in FIBA European Championships and World Championships. He was part of the squad that won the silver medal at EuroBasket 2001.
Achievements and Statistics
Kutluay won the EuroLeague championship with Panathinaikos in 2002. With the Türkiye national team, he won a silver medal at EuroBasket 2001. In the 1998–1999 EuroLeague season, he averaged 21.4 points per game with Fenerbahçe, ranking among the top scorers of that period. Over his EuroLeague career, he averaged 11.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 0.9 steals per game. He also took part in various domestic league and cup victories in both the Turkish Basketball League and the Greek Basketball League.
