Meram Bridge

Meram Bridge is a historic stone bridge located within the boundaries of the Meram district of Konya Province, spanning the Meram Creek. Meram Bridge is constructed from precisely cut stone and features a single-arch pointed arch design. The span of the arch was engineered to accommodate the intensity of the creek’s flow and seasonal variations. The supporting abutments of the arch retain their original, robust stonework. The deck is arranged in a simple and appropriately wide form to suit pedestrian traffic. The bridge’s railings are minimal, maintaining a balance between aesthetics and functionality. Although no definitive construction date is known, the bridge’s architectural features and construction techniques suggest it has been in use since the Anatolian Seljuk period. Moreover, as one of the entry points to the Meram Orchards, the bridge stands as a symbol of the city’s historical and natural identity.
