MPT-55K is a short-barreled infantry rifle chambered in 5.56×45 mm NATO, developed by the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE) to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces. Inspired by the design of the MPT-76, this model is specifically optimized for urban warfare operations and the use of special forces.

Design and Ergonomics
Thanks to its compact structure, the MPT-55K offers high maneuverability in confined spaces and urban operations. The telescopic stock adapts to users of different sizes and facilitates ease of carrying. The integrated Picatinny rail system allows for the mounting of various optics and accessories. Additionally, the ambidextrous safety selector, magazine release, and charging handle ensure ergonomic use for both right- and left-handed users.
Usage and Integration
The MPT-55K is used not only by the Turkish Armed Forces but also by various security forces. This rifle is especially favored by special forces and gendarmerie units and plays an effective role in urban warfare and close-quarters combat. It has also been exported to some allied and friendly nations.
Development and Production Process
Inspired by the success of the MPT-76, the MPT-55K was developed and introduced in 2017. Manufactured at MKE’s Kırıkkale facilities, the rifle is a product of entirely domestic engineering and production capabilities. During its development, user feedback and operational needs from the field were considered to improve the design.
