Muradiye Waterfall

Muradiye Waterfall is a natural formation located within the boundaries of Muradiye district in Van Province, in eastern Türkiye. The waterfall, approximately 80 kilometers from the city center of Van, derives its name from Ottoman Sultan IV. Murad, who led the Baghdad Campaign in the 17th century.

The waterfall is situated on the Bend-i Mahi Creek, which is fed by Mount Tendürek. According to official sources, the height of the waterfall is 18 meters. However, it is also noted that due to the water falling from a wide area and multiple elevations, the overall landscape presents a view of approximately 50 meters.

Muradiye Waterfall and its surroundings offer visitors different scenic views throughout all four seasons. In spring, the area is adorned with flowers, while in winter the waterfall’s waters freeze, forming a crystalline ice cover. Especially during rainy periods, the increased water flow creates a more vigorous and dynamic cascade.

On the opposite side of the waterfall, there is a spacious area used by the local population as a recreational zone. Additionally, a suspension bridge is located in this area. The region is an important center for nature tourism and is favored by visitors for hiking, photography, and immersing themselves in nature. It is also regarded as a suitable location for camping.
