Mustafa Çiftçi is the 70th Minister of Interior of the Republic of Türkiye. Throughout his career in public administration, he has held positions as district governor and provincial governor, and was appointed Minister of Interior by presidential decree dated 11 February 2026. He has served for many years in public administration and is particularly known for his administrative responsibilities in the decentralized organizational structure. During his governorships, he carried out administrative coordination duties in the areas of security, public order, disaster management and local development. Mustafa Çiftçi was born in 1970 in the Çumra district of Konya. He completed his secondary education at Konya Imam Hatip High School and graduated in 1990. He graduated from the Public Administration Department of the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University in 1995. In 1996, he passed the district governor candidate examination opened by the Ministry of Interior and began his career in public administration as a candidate district governor of the 85th term in Konya. In the early stages of his professional life, he gained international experience. He spent eight months in the United Kingdom in 1998. He graduated from the National Security Academy in 1999.
Mustafa Çiftçi began his career as a district governor in 1996 as a candidate district governor of the 85th term in Konya. Throughout his career, he served as district governor in Gülağaç (Aksaray), Tekman (Erzurum), Derinkuyu (Nevşehir), Adilcevaz (Bitlis) and Kaman (Kırşehir). During these assignments, he assumed responsibility for the implementation of public services at the district level, coordination of central administration with decentralized structures, and administrative activities conducted in cooperation with local governments. He also served in the central administration as director of a department within the General Directorate of Personnel of the Ministry of Interior.

On 11 February 2026, Mustafa Çiftçi was appointed Minister of Interior by presidential decree published in the Official Gazette. The same decree also included a new appointment to the position of Minister of Justice.
The appointment was made within the framework of a cabinet reshuffle by the executive branch. Through this decision, Çiftçi stepped down from his governorship and assumed the role of Minister of Interior.
