
Nihat Genç (born 1956, Trabzon – died 4 July 2025, Ankara) was a Turkish writer journalist and television commentator. He graduated from the Department of Business at the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences of Gazi University in Ankara. Genç began his literary career in the 1980s with articles published in various newspapers and magazines and gained attention in the 1990s for his stories in humor magazines. In the 2000s he became a well-known public figure through his commentary on television programs offering analyses on political and social issues on channels such as Sky Türk NTV and TV8. In 2019 he continued his content production through the digital publishing platform Veryansın TV which he founded. He authored numerous books consisting of essays opinion pieces and short narratives.
Nihat Genç was born in Trabzon in 1956. He completed his primary and secondary education in Trabzon and then pursued higher education at the Department of Business at the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences of Gazi University in Ankara. After university he worked for a time in various fields before shifting his focus to writing and embarking on a productive career in literature and journalism.
Nihat Genç’s earliest writings appeared in the 1980s in publications such as Yarın Bağımsız Gazete and Aydınlık. In the 1990s his stories were published in humor magazines including Leman Penguen and Ot. In the 2000s he worked as a television commentator and particularly provided commentary on political and social issues on channels such as Sky Türk NTV and TV8.
In 2019 he founded the digital publishing platform Veryansın TV. On this platform both written content and video productions were published.
He has published numerous books through various publishing houses. His books primarily feature texts in the genres of essays opinion pieces and short narratives.
Nihat Genç died on 4 July 2025 in a hospital in Ankara where he was receiving treatment for cancer.
