Örebro School Attack (2025)

The Örebro School attack was an armed assault that occurred on 4 February 2025 at the Risbergska Adult Education Center in the city of Örebro, Sweden. Eleven people were killed and many others were injured in the incident. The perpetrator was among those killed. The attack began at 12:33 local time (11:33 GMT) on 4 February 2025 at the Risbergska Adult Education Center. Police and emergency response teams arrived at short event. Initially, it was reported that five people had been shot, but authorities later confirmed that approximately ten people had died. Official statements in the evening confirmed that the death toll had risen to eleven.

The Risbergska Adult Education Center, where the attack occurred, is an institution designed for individuals who have not completed secondary education or wish to improve their grades to pursue higher education. The campus also hosts schools providing education for various age groups. During the attack, security measures were implemented at other schools in the area and students were kept indoors.

Perpetrator and Investigation

Authorities revealed that the attacker was a 35-year-old man with no prior criminal record. Police concluded that the perpetrator acted alone and that the incident was not a terrorist attack. The investigation is being conducted under charges of murder enterprise, arson and serious weapons offenses.
