Pelitözü Pond

Pelitözü Reservoir is located within the boundaries of Bilecik Province in Türkiye, approximately 7 kilometers from the city center. Situated at an elevation of 660 meters above sea level, the reservoir covers an area of 213.50 hectares.

Constructed in the 1980s by the General Directorate of Village Services, Pelitözü Reservoir was created for irrigation purposes. Over time, it has also developed into a recreational area, complemented by the surrounding natural vegetation and pine trees.

The area surrounding the reservoir is rich in flora. In addition to dense stands of pine trees, numerous native plant species are found in the region. This area exhibits a microclimate and supports an ecosystem in natural balance.

Following regulatory initiatives by the Bilecik Governorship and Provincial Special Administration, the reservoir and its surroundings have been opened for recreational use. The site includes walking paths, cycling trails, mini-golf courses, camping and caravan areas, picnic spots, children’s play areas, and a beach volleyball court.

Fishing activities are conducted at the reservoir under a “catch-and-release” concept. Boat tours using sea bikes are also available. Water sports are occasionally organized as part of festivals and events.

Various cafes and restaurants operate around the reservoir, serving visitors. Additionally, there are tea gardens, observation decks, and bicycle rental points. Access to the reservoir is via the Bilecik route from the Istanbul-Sakarya direction, turning off at the Pelitözü junction. From this junction, the reservoir is reachable after a 3.5-kilometer drive.

Each summer, events under the name “Gölpark Fest” feature various water sports, concerts, beach volleyball, and caravan races. Traditional kite festivals and other open-air activities integrated with nature are also held regularly.
