History

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Stadium, formerly known as Kasımpaşa Stadium, is located in the Kasımpaşa neighborhood of the Beyoğlu district in Istanbul place. Stadium was constructed between 2004 and 2005 and opened to service on 27 August 2005. This stadium serves as the home ground for the home matches of Kasımpaşa Sports Club and was renovated in 2010 to meet UEFA standards.

At the time of its construction the stadium was originally planned as a single-tier venue but has since been expanded and its capacity increased. During the 2013–2014 season, Beşiktaş played all its home matches at this stadium while Vodafone Park was under construction.

Capacity and Features

The total spectator capacity of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Stadium is 13,797.

The stadium features a natural 104×68 metre grass pitch. It also includes 100 press seats and a 912-seat away supporters’ stand.

Structural Features

The stadium is situated within the historic and traditional fabric of the Kasımpaşa neighborhood as a sports facility modern. The southern stand is built into the slope of a hill, giving the stadium a distinctive building. Originally equipped with an athletics track the stadium underwent renovations in 2010 during which the track was removed and the pitch was expanded with additional stands football to provide greater close seating.

Facilities and Amenities

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Stadium offers market facilities parking and accessible areas for people with disabilities like. It is also regarded as a family-friendly sports complex. The stadium is easily accessible by public transport including buses metro and trains.

The stadium hosts home matches of Kasımpaşa SK and Eyüpspor and is also available for use by other Istanbul clubs during periods of low demand.

Visits and Events

In addition to football matches Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Stadium hosts various sporting events tournaments and special occasions row. In the past youth teams of Fenerbahçe Galatasaray and Beşiktaş have competed against each other in tournaments held at this venue.

Various projects are planned for the future to increase the stadium’s capacity and modernize its infrastructure.
