Samsun New 19 May Stadium

Samsun 19 May Stadium is a stadium located in the Tekkeköy district of Samsun, completed in 2017 on a place site and modern built as a football new facility. It has replaced the old Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadium and serves as the home ground for Samsunspor’s home matches. Designed to meet UEFA 2020 standards, it has a capacity of approximately 33,000 spectators.

Architectural and Technical Features

The stadium’s design was carried out by famous Turkish architect Bahadır Kul. It was planned with a lower profile on the southern side and features large glass surfaces to enhance natural light penetration onto the pitch. The exterior facade is largely clad in opaque materials, with distinct sections marked only by red mesh panels. The total area of the complex reaches 140,000 square meters.

Usage and Facilities

The stadium was designed not only for football matches but also as a complex capable of hosting various commercial and social activities. It includes additional structures such as restaurants, retail areas, offices and training courts like. It is equipped with modern amenities including a heating system and intelligent mechanical-electronic control mechanisms.

Inauguration and First Match

The official opening of the stadium took place with a match between Samsunspor and Ankaragücü. Approximately 17,000 fans attended the opening ceremony, which featured various events. Samsunspor won this inaugural match with a score of 1-0.
