TEI-TJ300 is Türkiye's first medium-range anti-ship missile engine. The project was launched in September 2017 under a protocol signed between TEI (TUSAŞ Motor Sanayii A.Ş.) and Roketsan, with the support of TÜBİTAK. As a result of the work carried out under the Medium-Range Anti-Ship (OMGS) Air-Breathing Jet Engine Project, the first prototype test of the turbojet engine, which was designed and produced entirely with national resources, was successfully conducted on February 25, 2020.
Despite its 224 mm diameter limit, the TEI-TJ300 is the first engine in the world capable of generating power at these dimensions. This compact size allows the engine to be used on different platforms. The engine can operate at high speeds, reaching 90% of the speed of sound at an altitude of 5,000 ft. Additionally, it can start operating solely through wind power (windmill effect) without requiring additional starting systems such as a starter motor. This feature enables the engine to be used in air, land, and sea defense systems.
In April 2021, TEI-TJ300 broke the world record in its class by generating 1,342 Newtons of thrust despite its 224 mm diameter.
