He is the first and only Turkish citizen to complete the “14x8000” project, having summited all 14 peaks above 8,000 meters above sea level. Fındık was born in Ankara in 1972. He graduated from Bilkent University with a degree in English Language and Literature. He began his mountaineering activities during university years and developed expertise in technical rock climbing and winter mountaineering. In his early career, he contributed to local literature by opening new routes in regions such as the Aladağlar and Kaçkar Mountains in Türkiye.
Fındık defines his climbs not as a sport but as a “lifestyle.” He has stated that long-term expeditions, sometimes lasting up to two months, have significant impacts on family and social life, but that such challenges must be managed with professional discipline【1】. He has undertaken a total of 25 expeditions to 8,000-metre peaks and maintained psychological resilience under statistics showing that one in three climbers loses their life on descent routes. He views himself as an athlete nurtured by the Republic and emphasizes that his achievements are owed to this institutional infrastructure.

The central pillar of Fındık’s career is the “14x8000” project, which began with his first ascent of Everest in 2001 and was successfully completed 22 years later on 26 June 2023, when he reached the summit of Nanga Parbat (8125 m) in Pakistan.
Chronology of Completed 8,000-Metre Summits:
Fındık has attempted many of these climbs without supplemental oxygen or with minimal logistical support, striving to maintain an alpine style approach.
Beyond high-altitude mountaineering, Fındık is also active in technical mountaineering. He has opened more than 400 new routes in Türkiye’s mountainous regions and advanced disciplines such as ice climbing and long-wall climbing. His project-based climbs with Zorbey Aktuyun have contributed significantly to diversifying rock climbing routes in Türkiye.
