Aladağlar National Park, located between Türkiye's Central Anatolia and Mediterranean regions, is one of the important protected areas notable for its natural richness, endemic flora, geological formations, and wildlife. The area, declared a national park in 1995, is located within the borders of Niğde, Kayseri, and Adana provinces. Its total area is 55,065 hectares.
Geographical Location and Natural Structure
The national park is located on the Aladağlar Mountains, one of the highest and most rugged massifs of the Taurus Mountains. The highest peak of the park is Demirkazık Peak, reaching 3,756 meters. Aladağlar has a complex geological structure where volcanic and sedimentary rocks are seen together. Deep valleys, steep cliffs, glacial cirques, and mountain lakes are among the main elements of this structure. Kapuzbaşı Waterfalls, located in the northeast of the park, are among the significant natural areas notable for their water masses falling from a height of approximately 70 meters.

Flora and Fauna
Aladağlar National Park is one of Türkiye's leading areas in terms of endemik plant species. Approximately 1,300 plant species have been identified in the park, and a significant portion of them are species that grow only in this region. Along with tree species such as Taurus cedar, black pine, juniper, and oak, there is a rich shrub and herbaceous vegetation.
The park also holds great importance in terms of wildlife. In addition to mammalian species such as wild goat, bear, lynx, wild boar, fox, and wolf, it also hosts endangered predatory birds such as the cinereous vulture, eagle, and imperial eagle.
Ecotourism and Mountaineering
Aladağlar National Park is one of Türkiye's most important areas for mountaineering and nature walking (trekking). Especially Mount Demirkazık, is a major attraction for local and foreign mountaineers. Climbing routes vary according to technical difficulty levels. In addition, nature-based activities such as highland tours, camping, birdwatching, and photography are also carried out.
Conservation Status and Management
With its acquisition of National Park status in 1995, various management plans have been put into effect for the conservation of the region's natural structure and biodiversity. The park's management is carried out by the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Controlled visitor admission, environmental impact assessments, and sustainable ecotourism practices are essential in the area.
Transportation and Visit
Access to Aladağlar National Park is provided via Yahyalı district of Kayseri, Çamardı district of Niğde, and Aladağ district of Adana. The closest major city to the region is Kayseri, and Kayseri Airport is an important hub for transportation. Visitors can access the natural beauties from different entry points of the park.
