Erdoğmuş participated in the 7th Sharjah Masters International Chess Championship held in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. During the tournament, he faced strong Grandmasters. He secured victories with the black pieces against Indian Grandmasters S. P. Sethuraman and Mittal Aditya. In the final round, he drew with Vladimir Fedoseev, ranked 36th in the world, also playing with black pieces. He gained +11.4 Elo points over the course of the tournament, raising his live rating to 2569 Elo. This surpassed the 2555 Elo rating achieved by Judit Polgar at age 13.
The FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship was held in Doha, Qatar. The rapid chess events took place from 26 to 28 December, and the blitz chess events from 29 to 30 December. In the open category, Türkiye was represented by Yağız Kaan Erdoğmuş, Ediz Gürel, Mustafa Yılmaz, Emre Can, Vahap Şanal, and Cem Kaan Gökercan. In the women’s category, Ekaterina Atalık and Gülenay Aydın participated.
