Yavuz Selim Köşger (born January 3, 1964, Konya) is a Turkish bureaucrat and civil administrator. Köşger, who has served as governor in various provinces of Turkey, is known for his experience in public administration and local administration. He currently serves as the Governor of Adana. Yavuz Selim Köşger is married and has four children.
Youth and Education
Yavuz Selim Köşger was born in Konya on January 3, 1964. He completed his primary and secondary education in Konya. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University in 1986. He started his professional life as Kırşehir District Governor Candidate in 1990. Within the framework of his professional development, he did an internship abroad in Oxford, England, and later, he received language education for 5 months in Paris, France, and conducted research on the French administrative system.
His Career
Yavuz Selim Köşger started his career as a provincial administrator in 1990 with the Kırşehir District Governor Candidateship. He served as deputy district governor in Yapraklı and Beydağ, and later as district governor in Doğankent, Kemaliye, and Şarkikaraağaç districts. He served as deputy governor in Artvin. After assuming the position of General Director of the Agricultural Credit Cooperatives Union, he became the department head in the General Directorate of Local Administrations in 2004, was appointed as deputy general manager in 2006, and as general manager in 2010.
He served as Governor of Sinop (2013-2015), Governor of Bingöl (2015-2017), Governor of Aydın (2017-2020), and Governor of İzmir (2020-2023) and was appointed Governor of Adana in 2023. Yavuz Selim Köşger contributed to the development of public services and the implementation of various projects in the fields of agriculture, industry, education, and culture in the provinces where he served. In his statements during his term as Governor of Aydın, he stated that he aimed to carry the economic and cultural potential of the city forward.
