Zilkale is a historical castle located in the Çamlıhemşin district of Rize, Türkiye, overlooking the Fırtına Vadisi (Storm Valley). Positioned at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level and approximately 100 meters above the valley floor, the castle is notable for its magnificent views and strategic importance. The structure, which was also used during the Ottoman period, is considered one of the most important castles in the Eastern Black Sea region.

Architectural and Historical Features
Zilkale is a structure believed to have been built in the 14th or 15th century. Used for security purposes, it is strategically located to control the trade routes and the surrounding area. The castle, which consists of three sections, is notable for its inner and outer walls:
- Outer Walls: The path leading to the castle's main entrance begins here.
- Middle Walls: Guard rooms and storage areas are located here.
- Inner Castle (Main Tower): This is the highest point within the castle and was used for observation purposes.
Zilkale also includes a small chapel and a building for the guards. The tower section is four stories high, and its thick stone walls, built in accordance with the period, enhance the structure's durability.
